In reverence for Vienna’s rich medical heritage, the Open Medical Institute, the Medical University of Vienna, and the Josephinum Medical History Museum jointly organize the annual Vienna School of Medicine Gala. This year’s event, held on October 16, 2023, was dedicated to the fascinating world of “Orthopedics”.
The esteemed Dr. Markus Müller, Dean of the Medical University of Vienna, opened this year’s gala with a captivating speech on artificial intelligence and digital medicine at the historic lecture hall of the Josephinum Medical History Museum.
Dr. Reinhard Windhager, OMI co-course director and Head of the Department of Orthopedics at the Medical University of Vienna, provided a glimpse into the evolution of bone and joint surgery in Vienna. Dr. Gerhard Hobusch and Dr. Anna RienmĂĽller, both distinguished members of the Department of Orthopedics at the Medical University of Vienna, introduced the audience to innovative treatment methods for arthrosis and high-tech in spine surgery respectively.
The culmination of the evening saw Dr. Wolfgang Aulitzky, CEO of the Open Medical Institute, and Dr. Markus MĂĽller, Dean of the Medical University of Vienna, bestow the OMI Award 2023 upon the remarkable Dr. Renate Kain, Head of the Department of Pathology at the Medical University of Vienna, in recognition of her unwavering support of the OMI programs.
170 guests celebrated the enduring spirit of Vienna’s medical community, honoring its illustrious past and promising future. The event raised an impressive sum of 70,000 euros in support of the joint medical programs of the Medical University of Vienna, the Open Medical Institute, and the Josephinum Medical History Museum.
