Clinical Pearls in Pediatrics

Sep 19, 2020

The OMI seminar in Pediatric Endocrinology and Nephrology, directed by faculty from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Medical University of Graz, took place at Schloss Arenberg from September 13 to 19, 2020. After leading three prior seminars, Dr. Craig A. Alter was well-prepared to lead the group as the course director. He was joined by co-course director Dr. Christoph J. Mache. The four U.S. faculty held their lectures remotely, via Zoom, and the Austrian faculty members presented “live” in Salzburg to 20 OMI fellows from 10 different countries.

The OMI faculty presented state-of-the-art information through lectures, and fellows presented patient cases to the OMI faculty and their colleagues. Seven of the fellows’ case presentations were chosen to be published on the OMI Online Case Library. The seminar was the perfect opportunity to exchange knowledge and discuss challenges facing medical practictioners around the world.

The week was a great opportunity to build both personal and professional relationships, creating an international network of doctors and experts in pediatrics.

The OMI fellows were grateful for their time at Schloss Arenberg and will apply their new knowledge to their everyday clinical practices upon return to their home institutions.
